MY SECOND READING LOG

Book Title: Littlenose the Explorer by John Grant                                     December 26, 2011

PART 1
Reflection:
I felt it was brave of  littlenose to fight the wolves all by himself. But what happened next surprise me it is when the pact of wolves surrendered and ran away when littlenose got stronger throwing snowballs on them.
I was touched how did littlenose treat Urk and Two-Eyes, his newly-found friends. He would force his parents to adopt those homeless creature. It was thoughtful of him.

Connection:
I remembered that I was in grade school when I will sneak from our house to get along with my friends. Like littlenose, I`m kind of adventurous and love to discover new things and at the end of the day, when I got home. My Mother will scold me for going home late.
Another connection I had with the story is when littlenose encounter trouble with the wolves. As a kid then, I used to fight with every boy who disobeys my wants. Im a bully type of a kid then. Even though its my fault. I always win. But I learned my lesson, its bad.

Question:
I wonder why Littlenose`s parents is uncertain if they will adopt Urk and Two-eyes. Don`t they have a heart? Those creatures are homeless and need food to eat but why are they refusing littlenose on his request. Did they really think that those two creatures will bring trouble to thei family?

Prediction:
I expect that Littlenose will continue his journey to explore different things. He will found new friends and new people to mingle with. And I think that he will develop more his sense of thoughtfulness and generosity like what he did on his friends Urk and Two-eyes.

PART 2

I CHOSE TO PREDICT WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO LITTLENOSE AND HIS BUDDY URK

A year Later, Little and Urk Found a Friend who joins them in their journey to find another interesting adventure. Armed with determination and enthusiasm, Littlenose and his colleagues face another exciting adventure. It's time for Littlenose to learn a little responsibility—so he goes hunting with the adults and is told to build the campfire. He also has a holiday with his clever Uncle Redhead (who turns out to have a LOT to talk about), and goes to visit his cousins—who are scared of Bigfoot!

MY FIRST READING LOG

Book Title: The Empanada Brotherhood by John Nichols

Part 1

I wonder why Blondie, the shy narrator of the story, seemed to be afraid with the characters. In the story, it felt like Blondie is an innocent lad chasing his different masters. The Argentine boys, the sassy gals, Cathy the dancer, Jorge the guitarist and all the people related in that empanada stand treat Blondie like a kiddo. But I’m not saying that Blondie is abused or oppressed in the story. They are all friends.  I’m just curious about the score of each character to Blondie.
Also, I was wondering why Blondie bothered by the fact that he is a virgin. Blondie is basically a fresh graduate in college, an aspiring writer who has skill and guts. But he felt uncertain with his own self and got intimidated by his friends who are liberated and easy-going. Does it really matter that a man is still a virgin even in his 20`s. For me, it’s not a big deal.
When I was young, even now that I’m already a teenager, I used to be with my friends. We cracks jokes, laugh, play, stroll around, sometimes we get bored but the most important session of the bond is the sharing of experiences. Sometimes I am the center of the conversation. My friends tease me for being not an athletic type of a person. It kinda sucks but let`s admit it I’m not a sports enthusiast BUT I’m a Music Lover. I sing well and I think that’s my edge among. In that field, no one can beat me.
Another connection I had with the story is that I’m really into my friends. Like Blondie, I treasure my friends. In the story, Blondie does not mind all the negative comments and the monikers he gets from his friends and so am I. Even though I’m always the joking pot of the gang, I don’t mind it. It’s just a joke, nothing too serious. As long as we are friends, we are friends forever.
I felt it was confusing of Eduardo, an imaginary cuckold, to get mad to Luigi, the little guy with a burnt face who is the new partner of his ex-wife Adriana. He keeps on saying that he and Adriana are already divorced and there is no chance for him and Adriana to remarry. But when he knew that Luigi and Adriana is together. He got extremely mad to Luigi.
I felt touched about what the guys had done when their pal El Coco died. El Coco has no family, no property no money but his friends were very generous that they give donations just to let El Coco experience a peaceful burial.
I think Blondie and his friends might have a reunion. They will talk about the things that had happened in their lives. Blondie`s old pals might be surprise and happy that Blondie is already married and had two children. Their reunion is going to be the best reunion they have ever had in their lives.

Part 2

In the second part of my reading log, I chose to write a poem about  one of the characters named Eduardo. Writing this poem I assumed that I was Portraying the character of Eduardo-hating everyone for not understanding his emotion or whatever.

Unpredictable
Justine Paulo Tapil

I dont like to combine with the mob
Its awkward and odd
I dont like to be calm
It pissess me everytime

Im impulsive, ambitious and sometimes irrelevant
Im curious, fun, strong and valiant
But the thing that makes me happy
is the thing that keeps everthing dreary

I hate when things are simple and plain
Its nonsense, boring and insane
Some will look at me and vomit
I dont care they are loser`s culprit

I discourage myself to be the same
Because I like it when im in fame
Im uncontrollable and despicable
Unpredictable, indeed unpredictable
